Sunday… Son-day

It’s a restful Sunday, bright and sunny. I started the day watching Bro. Bo Sanchez’ video on Being Still.

I went out to our garden as soon as I finished watching the video. I sat still. In front of me were my Tomorrow leaf plants which i call Nancy’s garden because we grow the plants and give my friend and manager Nancy Baluyut  the “Tomorrow leaves” to lower her blood sugar. On my right side was our small pond, the lotus leaves floating on the water with one bud pointed to the sky. At my back were herbal plants we grow for friends who have kidney problems, and beside it were malunggay trees. Near the pond was one of our bird rooms that houses around 300 pairs of love birds tweeting to their hearts’ delight. In front of  the room was our big Indian mango tree spreading its branches on top of the roof.  Scattered on the ground were its wilted flowers, a sign that in a month or two, we shall have our Indian mangoes. This was the product of my BEING STILL – A full awareness of my surroundings which i took for granted when i was busy with my corporate life as I left the house early in the morning and came home late at night. I continued to be still and i felt God’s whispering….”the mango tree, big and tall as it was, had to be still to take root in the depths of the earth so that it could weather strong winds and storms and bear abundant fruits. TO BE STILL IS TO TAKE ROOT IN ME  that you may BEAR FRUIT FOR MY KINGDOM.”  The wilted flowers reminded me of the bible verse, “Unless a grain of wheat falls down to the ground and die, it will bear no fruit.”               (John 12:24)  I closed my eyes and in a flash my mind went hi-tech. I saw my cellphone on the table , resting STILL as it charged its battery. I am like that cellphone. You are like that cellphone. We are like that cellphone. We could only be as useful as when we charge and connect ourselves to the SOURCE OF POWER, our GOD, our STRENGTH. It does not take forever to do it. Few minutes of being still and mindful of God’s Presence in us and around us. BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD. (Psalm 46:10)  God whispered,  ” I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, with me in him bears much fruit in plenty; for cut off from me, you can do nothing.” ( John 15:4 TJB) In a few moments, I felt the warmth of the sunshine enveloping my body. Our dear Lord Jesus is in the Sunshine embracing me. What a beautiful Sun-day. What a heart warming Son-day.

YES – A three-letter word
that is now 30 years old
Spelled a roller coaster life
Full of ooohhhhs and ahhhhs

There was never a merry go round ride
When I said Yes to my honeybunch Paul
That our friendship would go beyond that call
That later led to an altar call…

Twenty six of these thirty years
Were a pledge to love without condition
An everyday YES to
Yield
Enjoy
Surrender

To God’s pleasant surprises…
